Note:
The basis of the club is that all members must have the right clothing
and equipment including first aid, maps, compass, survival/bivvy bag,
headtorch, whistle etc... and be responsible for their own safety. As
a club, we encourage all members to improve their skills in navigation,
first aid, winter skills etc.
We make it very clear, especially to new members, that they are
under no illusion that anyone is there to guide them, apply first aid
and that, yes, we will help each other to gain the necessary skills to
enjoy the hills safely as others have done for us. It should be on the
basis that he/she is only helping by sharing their experience, is not
in any way quailified, is not regarded as 'technical experts' but
as amateur walkers/climbers with some experience which they are prepared
to share.
